"Understanding the Fair Housing Act"
People who participated in this 2014 event had the opportunity to directly experience situations encountered by people seeking housing that violate the Fair Housing Act.
Heights Community Congress concluded its 2013-14 Diversity Awareness series with an outstanding program on Fair Housing for April Fair Housing Month. Using dramatization and discussion, participants were introduced to real life scenarios that people looking for either homes or apartments may encounter. The purpose of the evening was to help people in the community understand that inequity in housing has not gone away with the passage of the historic Fair Housing Law of 1968. Paired testing is still the best deterrent to discrimination. For more information on being a fair housing advocate please contact HCC directly.
